Manchester United defender Harry Maguire is seemingly on the verge of securing a move away from Old Trafford, with West Ham pushing the hardest for the defender.

According to Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports, and further backed up by The Athletic, West Ham have reached an agreement with United to sign the out-of-favour defender for around £30 million.

Crucially, personal terms are not expected to be a problem for the defender to complete the move to the London Stadium.

The United defender, who made the move to Old Trafford for £80 million back in 2019, has been third or fourth choice under Erik ten Hag and it now seems the defender will leave Old Trafford after four years in the North West.

A move to East London could well be the move that the defender needs at this stage of his career especially with the European Championship coming up next summer, Maguire needs game time.

Structure of United exit being negotiated

As well as this, Sheth goes on to say that United and West Ham are still negotiating the finer points on the defender’s exit with Maguire said to be earning around £180,000 a week at United, according to The Mirror.

It certainly seems unlikely that the defender would earn a similar amount under Moyes so United may well have to pay off a certain amount of his wages for the defender to make the move.

It brings to an end a rather turbulent few years for the English defender, 30, and he will hope this move can be the rejuvenating one that he needs at this point in his career.

Who will United move for now

Sales have always been required for United to make a move for another midfielder or a centre-back. OGC Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo may well be the player targeted next.

The former Barcelona defender is of interest to United according to Fabrizio Romano. RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins takes it a step further and says the two clubs have been in discussions over the French defender.

Hawkins goes on to say that the sale of Maguire is needed for the operation to commence, well, it seems United are on the verge of that required sale, so a formal offer for Todibo may well be in the pipeline.
