Manchester United have reportedly added Barcelona left-back Marcos Alonso to their list of targets this summer following the injury of Luke Shaw.
The Spanish left-back only joined Barcelona last summer from Chelsea and the full-back, who seemingly excels in the attacking side of the game, could well emerge as an option for United.
According to Graeme Bailey, from 90min, United have added Alonso to their list of targets and Alonso could be considered a good stopgap for Erik ten Hag’s side who has experience playing at the highest level.
United are in dire need of full-back cover following the muscle injury to Luke Shaw which could keep him out of action until November according to The Times, a defensive reinforcement may well be needed.

Alonso is on the list of targets
Alongside Alonso, Marc Cucurella could emerge as a target for United. The Spanish full-back, who has been linked with Manchester City in the past could well emerge as a surprising option for Ten Hag’s side.
Cucurella may well be a better option for United than Alonso, the former Chelsea defender has poor defensive discipline so he may well be caught out time and time again were he to make the move to Old Trafford.
The defender featured in 24 La Liga games but started just 11 times for Xavi’s Barcelona and scored just once.
Who would be the better option
The better option at left-back is surely Cucurella.

The former Getafe player may well be a smart option for United as long as they can sign him on loan with no obligation to buy the Spaniard.
Alonso may well have experience at the highest level but at 32 years old, the defender may well have learned all he can. Cucurella, a younger left-back at 25, may well have time to learn more from Erik ten Hag.
Both options would need to be on loan and it seems likely there would be more financial wiggle room with Barcelona than Chelsea, due to the Spanish giants’ financial issues.
