Marcus Thuram is preparing to say an emotional farewell to Borussia Monchengladbach ahead of a potential summer move to the Premier League – with Manchester United linked.
With Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen, Randal Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos all valued in the region of £100 million, Erik ten Hag may have to get creative in his pursuit of a new centre-forward. Especially with Financial Fair Play pressures restricting the Dutchman’s spending power; new owners or no new owners.
Marcus Thuram, then, is a left-field option worth keeping an eye on.
According to SportBILD, Manchester United scouted the France international around the turn of the year. Thuram has 16 goals and six assists this term, and should be coming into his prime at the age of 25.
His availability and affordability, meanwhile, makes the former Guingamp star a potentially attractive alternative, perhaps to bring in instead of – or alongside – a more high-profile, high-cost option.

Will Manchester United go for Marcus Thuram?
“I just want to enjoy my last two games for Borussia and be able to look back on all the incredible moments I have experienced here,” smiles Thuram, who will be leaving Monchengladbach when his contract expires in July.
“Every game at Borussia Park was special for me. The past four years have been fantastic. I came here as a young player, and I developed enormously.
“It was amazing to be able to compete in the Champions League and play my way into the national team. I owe so much to this club, and I’ll never forget what it has done for me.
“Borussia will always have a special place in my heart.”
Thuram, labelled a ‘world-class’ talent after one particularly impressive display against Wolfsburg in late-2022, is not quite as proven or prolific as a Harry Kane or a Victor Osimhen. He doesn’t rack up as many assists, meanwhile, as Kolo Muani.
Thuram still possesses many of the attributes Ten Hag is looking for, however. He is quick, strong, an excellent link-man. Capable of thriving in a number of attacking roles; whether through the middle or out wide.
He could be an inspired, low-cost replacement for the stylistically-similar but increasingly injury-prone Anthony Martial.
