Manchester United’s most wanted player: 12 teams already want to sign Anthony Elanga

As many as 12 teams are already reported to have shown interest in signing Anthony Elanga from Manchester United this summer.

In addition to the various incomings at Manchester United, there are expected to be numerous outgoings at Old Trafford in the upcoming window.

The Mail speculate there could be 13 players leaving Old Trafford this summer. But that’s not even a full picture. There are several more who could be heading for an exit too – with Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe not even named in the report.

United have found it tough to offload players in recent years. See having to send Alex Telles and Eric Bailly out on loan last summer instead of selling them. Both are among those expected to leave, in some form, this summer.

Clubs queue for Anthony Elanga

The report in The Mail claims 12 clubs have already expressed interest in signing Anthony Elanga from Manchester United this summer.

It does not specify whether these are possible permanent moves or loan switches.

What it does signify is that clubs are correctly honing in on Elanga being surplus to requirements next season at Old Trafford.

A year ago he was a regular in Ralf Rangnick‘s side, however, this season he has fallen down the pecking order and even been overtaken by Facundo Pellistri in recent weeks.

In the recent international break Elanga scored for Sweden, and then in the ensuing three Premier League games he has not made the bench for Manchester United once.

This could change with Marcus Rashford’s injury, but Elanga is just stuck as a back-up right now.

He needs to go and play regular football to get back on track and rediscover his confidence. This might be a loan move which keeps everybody’s options open for a further 12 months. United could have sent him on loan in January, there was interest then, and his recent international goal seems to have underlined that.

With so much interest, Elanga and United will have to come together to make the right decision for his future. If a good offer came in for a permanent move, the Red Devils would have to consider it.
