Man Utd target with ‘everything you could need in a striker’ keen on exit – his club pushing for January move

Manchester United’s goal-scoring conundrum is one Ineos are determined to solve and quickly.

For all the exciting players within the Manchester United squad, goals somehow have been hard to come by this season in the Premier League.

After 20 games, United have only scored 23 goals – all while conceding 28 – which gives United a goal difference of minus five.

The striking department consisting of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee is a complete disaster, combining for just five goals which is a woeful £20m per goal this season in the league (£64m and £36m).

Matters have hardly been helped by Marcus Rashford’s looming exit – which has left Ineos scrambling to come up with a solution to the striker problem.

Dusan Vlahovic wants January Juventus exit

In order to strengthen up front, it would be logical to assume United will need to operate on a one-in, one-out basis.

Luckily for Ineos, there is Zirkzee who seems to be a top target for Juventus, which has led to rumours of a possible swap deal to see Dusan Vlahovic heading the other way.

The Serbian is in contract talks with the Turin side but things look likely to end between the pair. Now it has been reported that he is hoping to depart the club.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Vlahovic does not want to renew his contract which currently expires in 2026 – leading Juventus to assess their options this month.

Vlahovic’s desire to leave is motivated by ‘economic conditions’ and has forced the Serie A giants to accelerate their search for a replacement. Juventus would not stand in Vlahovic’s way if an option does present itself.

Juventus’ favourite to replace the 24-year-old is Zirkzee – which should mean a deal can be done with both sides wanting each other’s striker.

Vlahovic would tick Manchester United’s striker boxes

Despite being a name that has been around for a long time – Vlahovic was first linked with United in 2021 – he still remains a player yet to reach his peak years.

The 6ft 2in forward has always had a knack for scoring with 12 goals in 23 this season for a bang-average Juventus side, even bagging one against Man City last month.

Vlahovic would be a strong addition to United’s striking department. He has also been praised heavily by pundits in recent seasons.

Former Juventus striker Roberto Boninsegna told TuttoMercatoWeb: “Yes. I’ve been saying it for a long time. He’s strong, massive, he fills up front, he’s a reference, he’s a ‘left-footer’ full of courage. A good centre-forward.”

Micah Richards has previously lauded Vlahovic on BBC Radio Five Live.: “I have watched him a couple of times now”, Richards explained.

“He is lightning. It’s ridiculous. He has got 16 in 18 this season [2021]. His left foot is like a wand. I am telling you now, he is everything, he is everything you need.”
