Alejandro Garnacho stayed at Manchester United despite interest from Napoli in January, but the Italian side looks set to rekindle their interest when the summer transfer window opens.
It has been a challenging season for Alejandro Garnacho, albeit in a disappointing Manchester United side, sitting 14th in the Premier League table.
Garnacho has struggled for consistency and has scored just 10 goals in 52 matches, although this is the sort of form that can be excused by the player’s age, which is 20.
The Argentina international remains United’s most dangerous player in the final third, although he has had to change his role in the team since the arrival of Ruben Amorim as head coach. Garnacho is now playing as one of the No.10s, which means he doesn’t cut in from the wing as much.
Ineos already received backlash when it was suggested that they were considering offers for Garnacho’s signature in January. As a favourite among United fans, it would be a shame if he didn’t spend his best years at Old Trafford.

Manchester United set asking price for Alejandro Garnacho
The transfer window is just around the corner, with many clubs planning to strengthen over the summer.
United are no different amid links to Premier League duo Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap.
Ineos also plan to generate funds from player sales, but it remains to be seen who will be sent on their way through the exit door. United loanees Antony and Marcus Rashford will certainly be looking for new clubs when the season ends.
New reports suggest United have set a price tag on Garnacho’s head this summer.
According to journalist Cristiano Abbruzzese, as per Area Napoli, Garnacho is Napoli’s number one target to replace Khvica Kvaratskhelia. The Georgian winger was Napoli’s star player before joining Paris Saint-Germain midway through the season.
After expressing an interest in Gernacho back in January, Napoli remain keen on a deal and will come back in the summer with a revived effort.
The reporter claims United want €50m (£42.4m) to sell Garnacho in the coming months, which means Ineos have one eye on PSR because selling homegrown talents will considerably aid their spending power this summer.
“Napoli is at the forefront of the acquisition of Alejandro Garnacho, an offensive winger owned by Manchester United,” Abbruzzese said.
“After having followed him closely during the winter transfer window, the Neapolitan club is ready to reopen the dossier in view of the summer. An offer close to the high demands of the English club had already been made in January, which has now set the price at around €50m.
“Antonio Conte’s arrival on the Napoli bench is linked to an ambitious and well-structured strengthening plan. Among the profiles indicated by the Apulian coach is Garnacho, considered perfectly compatible with the tactical principles of the coach.
“The Argentine’s ability to skip a man, combined with a growing tactical maturity, represents the ideal identikit for the direct and vertical football dear to Conte.”
The reporter believes Garnacho is the perfect fit for Napoli manager Antonio Conte, who has got the best out of former United midfielder Scott McTominay this season.
What’s next for Alejandro Garnacho?
The speculation isn’t going anywhere when it comes to Garnacho.
The youngster should be focused on finishing the season as strongly as possible, with United hopeful of going all the way in the Europa League.
Garnacho’s next match is against Athletic Club in the Europa League semi-finals.
The first leg takes place in Spain, before United take the Basque outfit back to Old Trafford for the follow-up clash.
Winning the Europa League is the only chance United have of getting back in the Champions League ahead of next season.
