Man Utd scouts sent to watch Germany midfield ace Aleksandar Pavlovic

Manchester United scouts have been busy during the October international break after being sent to watch three players in Germany’s 1-0 win over Northern Ireland on Monday night.

Planning is underway for 2026 when Manchester United will try – yet again – to use the transfer window to strengthen the squad.

United made five signings in the summer, yet results have not improved in the Premier League, with Ruben Amorim’s side winning just three of the opening seven matches.

The recruitment team will continue to work closely with Amorim over the coming months, as big decisions will be made on transfer targets who may later be tasked with taking the team to the next step.

United ignored the need for a new midfielder last summer, so that is likely to be an area deemed a priority for Amorim in 2026.

Man Utd track Bayern Munich’s Aleksandar Pavlovic

After missing out on a deal for Carlos Baleba in the summer, United have been linked with several alternative options to address their midfield woes.

Crystal Palace sensation Adam Wharton is the latest to be linked with a move to Old Trafford; however, Morten Hjulmand is one of a few players linked without any Premier League experience.

That could soon change after United scouts were in attendance to watch Germany’s 1-0 win over Northern Ireland on Monday night.

Following a conversation with transfer expert Graeme Bailey, United In Focus understands that the main reason is believed to be Germany and Bayern Munich midfielder Aleksandar Pavlovic.

United were also keeping updated on the Borussia Dortmund pair Karim Adeyemi and Nico Schlotterbeck.

It is understood that Pavlovic has already been on United’s radar and is considered a player who fits the number six mould.

The issue is that Pavlovic is unlikely to be available, and he does not want to leave Bayern Munich at this point in his career.

Benjamin Sesko became the last Bundesliga player to sign for United in the summer. Only time will tell if there are any who will follow him to the Theatre of Dreams.

Who was the only German international to play for Man Utd?

After spending two years at Old Trafford, Bastian Schweinsteiger is the only German international to play for United.

Pavlovic could follow in Schweinsteiger’s footsteps by moving from Bavaria to United, although fans will hope he doesn’t wait until his later years to do so.

With just 35 appearances for United, Schweinsteiger was unable to perform at the same level he had managed for many years at Bayern.

Schweinsteiger is now a football analyst for German television.
