Man Utd receive response from Brighton after informing of intent to make club record offer

Manchester United fans are curious to know whether the club will make more signings this summer.

While it has been a busy summer for Manchester United, Ruben Amorim remains short in midfield, and many fans feel a better goalkeeper is needed.

Amorim wants an athletic midfielder who is capable of playing a deep-lying role in front of his back three. Casemiro is past his best, and Kobbie Mainoo has yet to cement a role under the new head coach.

Meanwhile, Bruno Fernandes is expected to play a more disciplined role in the team this season. Manuel Ugarte will be looking to improve a year on from his PSG exit.

Ineos focused on United’s attacking department this summer with the additions of Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.

United have been linked with multiple players, but they are also looking to sell a list of unwanted players. It will be difficult to make extra signings unless funds are generated from transfers.

Man Utd make decision on Carlos Baleba pursuit

One player linked with a move to United is Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba.

United informed Brighton during talks they would be willing to go over £100 million as we confirmed, but they are saying no.

It is understood that Baleba has told Brighton he wants to move, however, he does not intend to push for it or agitate.

The Red Devils are looking at other options, but it won’t be a stopgap as they want that central defensive midfielder, and he needs to be a real quality to fill what they see as a key role.

In conversation with United In Focus, Graeme Bailey explained: “United spoke again with Brighton on Friday morning and they put to them their plan to make a record bid, but Brighton again made it clear their stance.

“United accept that position, their footballing department have talked to Ruben Amorim about the prospect of any player, and they have been doing work on a handful of other targets but they already know who they like.”

Earlier on Friday, Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler stressed that he expects Baleba to remain at the club this season.

United may revisit Baleba in the future, but a deal is unlikely at this point.

When is Baleba in action next?

Although United won’t be signing Baleba this summer, the Red Devils will be keeping a close eye on the midfielder throughout the season.

Brighton start their Premier League campaign at home against Fulham on Saturday.

Baleba is expected to start against the Cottagers as he silences speculation over his future.

Brighton will travel to Everton next week.
