Manchester United make an offer for Yisa Alao

Amass has been Wednesday’s starting left wing-back all season, but below him in the pecking order is 17-year-old Yisa Alao from the team’s academy.

Alao is considered a top talent, and now United and Liverpool are battling it out to secure his signature.

This is according to the Daily Mail, which reports that United have submitted an offer worth in the region of £450,000 to sign the teenager, while Liverpool weighs up a similar offer.

Alao is yet to commit to a professional contract at Wednesday, which has led to Premier League clubs sensing an opportunity, having been impressed by the defender.

The youngster made his professional league debut earlier this month, replacing Amass as a substitute.

Who is Manchester United target Yisa Alao?

With Wednesday in crisis, United have seen the opportunity to both give the South Yorkshire club extra funds and also sign a highly rated prospect.

Alao was born in Doncaster on the 17th of November 2008, and despite having three professional first-team outings this season, Alao is also part of Wednesday’s U18 FA Youth Cup side.

According to The Star earlier this season, Alao had blown away first-team coaches when he made his Carabao Cup debut aged just 16.

If signed by United, Alao would likely be a U18 or U21 player immediately, as opposed to the first-team.
