Manchester United have struggled to score goals in the Premier League this season, which explains why Ineos are targeting players with experience in the English top flight.
Goals have been a problem for Manchester United before Ruben Amorim took charge of the team in November. Erik ten Hag struggled to find a goalscorer to suit his system but Amorim has yet to bring in a striker of his own.
United are likely to change that in the summer because it’s no secret that the Red Devils are lacking a bit of firepower up front.
Rasmus Hojlund has continued to struggle and Joshua Zirkzee doesn’t look like he will become a goalscorer anytime soon. It’s still too early to put too much pressure on Chido Obi, but it’s positive to see him getting minutes in the first team, albeit with the team putting in lacklustre performances.
There’s a chance for a striker to come in and make a name for himself, which has led to links to players such as Liam Delap and Matheus Cunha. Those links are not going away anytime soon.

Manchester United eye Semenyo as an alternative
Every club will be drawing up their top targets ahead of the summer transfer window.
Manchester United will be no different with their strategy, likely to draw up a list of fallback options if anything goes wrong.
United sources have confirmed to United in Focus that there has been interest in Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo and talks have taken place.
We understand this has happened whilst talks have been ongoing with Wolves striker Matheus Cunha – who is seen as the priority, so Semenyo is another option.
Both Cunha and Semenyo also offer versatility so they can play up-front as well as a CAM/wide forward.
Bournemouth will allow him to leave, but they currently value him at £70 million. A move to Saudi Arabia is seen as a real possibility for the Ghana star.
“Man United are not wasting their time in the market,” Graeme Bailey said. “They have been working hard Matheus Cunha and that deal is nearly done, but he is not the only one they have been talking to.
“Sources confirm that Semenyo is a player of interest to them too and that they have also spoken with his representatives. Could they sign Semenyo with Cunha? it is not impossible but it would be a very costly exercise.
“Ruben Amorim has made it clear that he wants his attacking options improved and United’s footballing department are doing their work.”
Antoine Semenyo record against Manchester United
The Ghana international has been one of the star performers at Bournemouth this season, scoring 11 goals and registering seven assists in 40 matches.
Semenyo has already impressed in games against United.
| Games | Wins | Goals | Assists |
| 3 | 2 | 2 | 0 |
He has won two of his three games against the Red Devils, scoring two goals.
I don’t think these figures suggest that United will see any value in Bournemouth’s asking price, but it’s no wonder that they value him highly.
