Man United’s stance on Amad’s future explained amid Middlesbrough links

Manchester United’s stance on Amad Diallo’s future has been explained despite recent links to Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough.

Amad Diallo has had a stop-start season for Manchester United so far with a nasty knee injury he suffered in pre-season keeping him out of the team for the majority of this campaign.

However, the Ivorian winger finally made his return from injury against Nottingham Forest during the 2-1 defeat for United at the City Ground and the forward looked impressive when he replaced Antony.

Recently, there had been rumours that Amad was on his way to Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough with Alan Nixon, via his Patreon claiming that the deal was close but United’s stance on the situation has been revealed.

United’s Amad stance

According to a report from the Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils are planning on keeping the former Atalanta winger ,due to Facundo Pellistri’s expected exit.

United are expecting the Uruguayan winger to move to Granada, the same side that brought in Alvaro Fernandez on loan, and as a result, Amad is expected to be retained.

The Ivory Coast international missed the FA Cup third-round win against Wigan Athletic through illness and he could return to the squad for the fourth round tie at Newport County next week.

Were he to start that game against Newport in the FA Cup, it would be the opportune moment for the winger to demonstrate his ability and prove to Erik ten Hag why he can be the solution to the club’s problems on the right.

Amad’s time to shine

There were members of the fanbase who were worried about United loaning Amad simply due to the fact that the Red Devils would all of a sudden have a lack of options on the right side.

Having Amad as an option, a winger who scored 14 goals in 42 games for the Championship side as Sunderland reached the play-offs, would be crucial for the second half of the season.

Admittedly, there aren’t too many cup games for the winger to play but he has shown last season and his brief cameo against Forest that he is ready for a starting role in the team.
