Manchester United defender Harry Maguire may well be offered a way out of Old Trafford with Jose Mourinho said to be interested in signing the Englishman.
Erik ten Hag finally gave Harry Maguire his chance against Brentford and it’s fair to say the Englishman was a colossal influence at the heart of the Manchester United defence.
It was Maguire’s assist for Scott McTominay that won United the game right at the death.
However, despite this, the former Leicester City defender could still be on his way out of the club and Roma are said to be one of the team’s interested.

Roma’s interest
According to a report from Italian outlet CalciomercatoWeb, the English defender seems ‘very likely’ to be a target for former United boss Jose Mourinho at AS Roma.
Mourinho believes that former United defender Chris Smalling could aid Maguire’s adjustment to the division if he did make the move in the summer.
As he is one of the highest-paid defenders in the league, Roma may have to get creative with a deal and the report says that a loan deal may well be explored to facilitate a move for the Englishman.
Loan would be a terrible idea
Were United to lose the 30-year-old defender, a loan would be a simply terrible idea as the odds are, as we have seen with previous dealings with Italian sides, they use the loan option to reduce the player’s valuation before signing them for a pittance.
However, it seems harsh that Maguire is still the defender who is being forced to leave Old Trafford when he has arguably put in better performances for United this season than Victor Lindelof.
The Swedish defender seems destined to stay at Old Trafford but his performances certainly don’t warrant a starting berth, you could argue Maguire does deserve this.
The report also mentions United would be interested in Goncalo Inacio as a replacement for Maguire.
