Manchester United are making a late push to have Senne Lammens join as the fifth major signing of the summer.

The Red Devils have spent £197 million on four new signings so far this summer and the £200 million milestone could be passed if Manchester United get their wish.

The goalkeeper department has been a problem for Ruben Amorim early on in the 2025/26 campaign with Andre Onana awful against Grimsby and Altay Bayindir failing to impress in the Premier League.

Despite Ruben Amorim defending his goalkeepers in public, United’s transfer activity suggests he knows change is needed.

Reports on Sunday claim United have made a fresh push for Emiliano Martinez, but the first-choice target this summer has always been Senne Lammens.

Man United improve bid for Senne Lammens

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said United are accelerating talks with Lammens to try and get a deal over the line, and it seems Ineos have now made their final push.

According to journalist Mike McGrath, United have made an improved offer to Lammens, and the decision is now down to the player.

If Lammens agrees, a medical could happen as soon as Sunday, with an official announcement surely soon after.

Royal Antwerp want £21 million for Lammens, while Ineos were hoping for a deal around £17 million. It seems the final details of a deal are being sorted before the 23-year-old makes his way to Manchester.

There has also been interest from Galatasaray trying to hijack the Lammens deal, but it seems Ineos are trying to get a deal done sooner rather than later.

When Senne Lammens could make his Man United debut

United are yet to keep a clean sheet in any competition this season and Amorim will hope that signing Lammens can help change that.

But the next two fixtures – against Manchester City and Chelsea – are extremely difficult, and would be a tough start to life in England for Lammens, assuming he joins.

United travel to the Etihad Stadium for a Manchester derby on September 14th – that is the soonest that Lammens could make his debut for the Red Devils.

United face Chelsea at Old Trafford six days later, which would be Lammens’ first opportunity to play at the Theatre of Dreams.

However, if Amorim decides to leave the young shot-stopper out of those two high-profile matches, Lammens would surely make his debut against Brentford on September 27.
