Manchester United are one of the clubs interested in Atlanta United midfielder Thiago Almada, according to reports.

A whole host of European clubs are said to be keen on the Argentinian midfielder who has shone in the MLS and it looks only a matter of time before he moves on from America.

Manchester United are, unsurprisingly, one of the clubs linked with the 22-year-old and could be ready to make a move for him next summer at a decent price, too.

The midfield has been a problem for the Red Devils this season with Mason Mount, the summer signing from Chelsea, struggling to contribute.

Almada interest

Well, according to a report from Italian outlet Calciomercato, United are one of several clubs who are chasing the Argentinian midfielder.

They add that United have ‘carefully followed’ the Argentine for months and are one of the favourites for his signature. It looks like the midfielder is keen on moving on, too.

“I want to go Europe now. I want to go in the next transfer window. I would like any top league, if I had to choose it would be Premier League or La Liga, but I would like any league,” he told ESPN Argentina.

Almada has been a name fans have been told to keep an eye out for but just who is the 21-year-old midfielder?

Thiago Almada profiled

Almada has an incredible goalscoring record for Atlanta this season, he has managed 13 goals and 16 assists from 35 games this year.

The midfielder made his debut for the Argentinian national team against Honduras and Almada received some high praise from none other than Lionel Messi.

“Thiago is very fresh. He’s a very fast player who can play 1v1. He’s clever and isn’t afraid of anything,” Messi said, as reported by the Atlanta United website.

Almada joined the MLS side from Argentinian side Velez Sarsfield and the midfielder has done very well for Atlanta United.

He scored six goals and provided seven assists for the MLS side last season so he certainly has an eye for a goal or an assist from the engine room.

The report states he could be available for just £17 million but Juventus are pushing for the signing of the Argentine, too.

Almada certainly looks like the type of profile the Red Devils should be targeting for a move to the Premier League.
