Manchester United have been heavily criticised for not scouring the market for highly rated youngsters before they inevitably get snapped up from teams in Europe.
Whether it was Moises Caicedo, who joined Brighton from Independiente De Valle, or Julian Alvarez, who joined Manchester City from River Plate, Manchester United seem unwilling to take risks in the market.
The risks they have taken in Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri have not worked out but that is due to the managers not giving them chances. Amad, however, impressed out on loan at Sunderland last season.
Well, United, under Erik ten Hag may well be trying to change this as they are seemingly keen on signing a Brazilian wonderkid in the summer.

United after Brazilian star
According to Fabrizio Romano in his daily transfer briefing with CaughtOffside, United, alongside Bayern Munich, are keen on signing Brazilian midfielder Luis Guilherme.
The Brazilian is a midfielder who is just 17 years of age and a move away from his native Brazil would be a big risk for the teenager.
Speaking on his exclusive column, Romano said: “Bayern Munich were among the clubs in attendance for Brazilian gem Luis Guilherme two days ago. He’s very talented and Bayern were there to keep an eye on him.
“Let’s see if they’re going to bid for him, but for sure they are among four or five clubs interested, along with Manchester United, as reported yesterday.”
United’s plan
According to Romano, United are trying to improve their scouting of South American talent and the teenage midfielder is certainly one of the best talents in the region.
The midfielder, who currently plays for Palmeiras, despite being 17 is seemingly quite far along in his development hence why not only United and Bayern, but up to five other clubs are interested in the midfielder, according to Romano.
Romano doesn’t mention a fee for the midfielder but considering Real Madrid spent £60 million on Endrick, who also plays for Palmeiras, you’d expect the Brazilian side to demand a similar amount for the 17-year-old.
