Luton Town are now pushing to sign Ecuadorian teenager Oscar Zambrano amid interest from Manchester United.
The Hatters have added some Manchester United influence in their attempts to stay in the Premier League.
Tahith Chong completed a move from Birmingham City to Luton just a year since deciding to leave United.
Defender Teden Mengi then left United to join the Luton cause, chasing first-team football away from Old Trafford.
Forget former players though, Luton could now pounce for somebody United are thought to fancy signing…
Luton Town chasing Oscar Zambrano deal
Tutto Juve reported in September that United had shown an interest in signing LDU Quito midfielder Oscar Zambrano.
It was suggested that Barcelona, Juventus and United had all been impressed with Ecuadorian 19-year-old Zambrano and were looking into signing him.
Well, Luton could now ruin those plans.
The Sun now report that Luton staff have flown to South America in order to try and secure a deal for Zambrano.
This is a pretty ambitious pursuit for Luton given the lofty clubs in the mix for Zambrano, but it’s understood that the player has now been spoken to about a move to Kenilworth Road.
Zambrano could cost around £5million and Luton will hope to land a huge coup by signing the United target.

Manchester United could have another Moises Caicedo moment
This will leave United fans reminded of the now-infamous pursuit of Moises Caicedo.
Reports late in 2020 suggested that United were closing in on a £4.5million deal to bring Caicedo to Old Trafford.
Caicedo – another Ecuadorian midfielder – had been showing promise with Independiente del Valle in his native Ecuador, just like Zambrano with LDU Quito.
United didn’t finalise the move though and Brighton were able to swoop in, turning Caicedo into a huge £115million sale to Chelsea.
United are seemingly still keeping an eye on the Ecuadorian market in the hope of finding another Caicedo-like opportunity, but Luton may be one step ahead with their Zambrano move.
