Jose Mourinho and Fenerbahce have refused to rule out the possibility of luring one first-team Manchester United player away from Old Trafford this summer, according to reports.

Fenerbahce fell 11 points short of arch-rivals Galatasaray in the Super Lig title race in the 2024-25 season, with Jose Mourinho now preparing for the new season.

Mourinho was sacked from his role at Roma in January 2024 before the ‘Special One’ made his sensational return to management with Fenerbahce in June 2024.

The 62-year-old former Manchester United manager is keen to reinforce his first-team squad options ahead of mounting a league title challenge next season.

Mourinho found success during his time in the Old Trafford dugout, including leading United to the Europa League trophy and League Cup in his debut season.

However, the Portuguese coach’s spell at the Premier League club came to an end in 2018 after Mourinho was sacked, following on from his arrival at United in 2016.

Jose Mourinho and Fenerbahce’s position on signing Barcelona target Marcus Rashford from Man Utd

Marcus Rashford played under Jose Mourinho at Manchester United and the former Aston Villa forward is linked with a reunion with the ‘Special One’ this summer.

The 27-year-old United player is set to leave Old Trafford after returning from his spell at Aston Villa in July, with his loan deal at Villa Park expiring on 30th June.

Marcus Rashford has been training alone at United after being frozen out of the first-team squad by Ruben Amorim, who has deemed him surplus to requirements.

According to beIN Sports in Turkey, Fenerbahce’s interest in landing Rashford ahead of Barcelona has ‘gained significant weight’ amid the summer transfer window.

The publication reports that last season’s Super Lig runners-up are ‘prepared’ to drop a €40m fee to sign Rashford from United and reunite him with Mourinho.

It is believed that Fenerbahce are expected to ‘send a representative to England this weekend’ to meet with United executives and Rashford over a possible deal.

The ‘advantage’ that Jose Mourinho and Fenerbahce have in signing Man Utd player Marcus Rashford amid Barcelona’s interest

Marcus Rashford has been heavily linked with Barcelona and the former Aston Villa star has already teased his desire to play at the Camp Nou in his playing career.

United are believed to be holding out for a £40m transfer fee for Rashford and Barcelona have not made an official approach for the England international.

BeIN Sports reports that Barcelona’s ‘different priorities’ in the transfer market have only ‘strengthened’ Fenerbahce’s chance of signing Rashford from United.

The outlet suggested that Fenerbahce have a ‘significant advantage’ of landing Rashford due to ‘Mourinho’s influence’ and their ‘Champions League ambitions.’
