It has been a bad week for Manchester United in the transfer window, but with two months left for signings, Ineos are just getting started.
While Manchester United remains in the hunt for multiple midfield additions this summer, there is also an eye on alternative positions.
Michael Carrick is known to want an addition to his forward line, whether that be a winger or an experienced striker. What about both?
TEAMtalk have linked United with a move for Crystal Palace’s Ismaila Sarr, who is a devastatingly quick and direct winger, but has been increasingly excellent in front of goal and led the line for Senegal at the 2026 World Cup.
Now, a Crystal Palace expert, We Are Palace’s editor in chief, Billy Meyers, has told United in Focus whether Sarr is ready for such a move.

Billy Meyers tips Ismaila Sarr to make a step up at Manchester United
The link to Sarr is certainly interesting, although the timing could indicate that it is more due to the Senegal forward being in the news anyway after Belgium knocked Senegal out of the World Cup.
But if interest is real, Billy Meyers believes it would be an outstanding signing for United.
“Ismaila Sarr is undoubtedly good enough to take a step up from Crystal Palace. In fact, I would argue the Senegal international is one of the most underrated forwards on the planet.
“21 goals in 45 games for the Eagles last season, also practically netting the winner in the AFCON final before it was wrongly disallowed, and chaos later ensued.
“With four World Cup goals in just four appearances, there is no doubt that Sarr is capable of playing for Manchester United. The former Watford man arguably has the potential to be more effective under Michael Carrick than Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.”
This is a bold prediction, but he might be right.
Sarr, as a player, seems like he would really fit in under Carrick with his running, power, speed, and intensity all ticking boxes for the United boss.
Which transfer targets do you NOT want Man Utd to sign?
Let's turn the transfer question on it's head, and give Jason Wilcox some advice…
How much Ismaila Sarr might cost United this summer
Back in 2024, Sarr moved to Palace from Marseille for just £12.5m, which has proven to be a bargain as the Senegalese winger has helped spur them to three trophies.
United wouldn’t be able to sign Sarr for quite as cheap though, despite him being 28 years old.
But given his age, he also wouldn’t absolutely shatter the bank.
A realistic price for Sarr would be between £30m and £40m, which is excellent value for a player who would be so vital over the course of a season for United.
With Champions League football, cup competitions, and the Premier League, United need players like Sarr in the squad, and he might be an immense signing.
