Inter Milan have enquired about signing Manchester United captain Harry Maguire on loan before the January transfer window closes, reports The Mail.
The Italian giants reportedly had Victor Lindelof on their radar, but Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Red Devils have no intention of letting the Swede leave.
But having been knocked back in their pursuit of United’s number two, the Nerazzurri have seemingly switched their attentions to signing the world’s most expensive defender on loan for the remainder of the 2022-23 campaign.
While Simone Inzaghi’s side look set to have to plan for life without Milan Skriniar, who according to L’Equipe has agreed to join Paris Saint Germain in the summer on a free transfer, Inzaghi’s immediate focus looks to be bolstering his defence in the short-term.
Inter Milan want to sign Harry Maguire who hasn’t started back-to-back games since August
While the Italian giants are reportedly keen on signing United’s number five, the former Leicester City man wants to wait until the summer to resolve his future at Old Trafford.
Maguire hasn’t started back-to-back games under Erik ten Hag since Manchester United’s shambolic start to the season when we were beaten by Brighton & Hove Albion and humiliated at Brentford.

The 29-year-old has only started two Premier League games since August, and with Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane being Ten Hag’s first choice centre-back partnership, the 53-time England international is also competing with Lindelof and Luke Shaw for minutes.
Maguire started the 3-1 win FA Cup fourth-round win against Reading, and he may start the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Nottingham Forest with Ten Hag’s side taking a commanding 3-0 lead to the Theatre of Dreams following last week’s emphatic win at The City Ground.
But it’d be a surprise to see Maguire start against Crystal Palace on 4 February in the Premier League.
Ten Hag isn’t going to want to leave himself short with a hectic run of fixtures on the horizon, and Maguire seemingly would prefer to finish the season with the Red Devils before assessing his options in the summer.
