Bebe is one of Manchester United’s most puzzling signings of all time and he has now joined the 12th club of his career.
Paul Scholes was recently asked to name the worst Manchester United signing in history.
Scholes defended Juan Sebastian Veron in that discussions and instead named Mark Bosnich as the worst whilst calling him ‘unprofessional’.
Speaking on The Overlap, David Ornstein then mentioned Bebe as a contender.
A now-infamous signing in 2010, Bebe had previously been on the books at Estrela da Amadora and Vitoria de Guimaraes.
The winger has gone down as one of Sir Alex Ferguson’s worst signings but still feels that he could have been a star at Old Trafford.
Former Manchester United flop Bebe signs for new club
Bebe managed just seven appearances for United, scoring two goals.
After spending most of his time on loan at Besiktas, Rio Ave and Pacos de Ferreira, Bebe was finally offloaded to Benfica in 2014.
Bebe’s United career never really got off the ground and he struggled to find a real home until joining Rayo Vallecano permanently in 2018.
After two loan spells with Rayo, Bebe became a cult hero with the La Liga side, racking up more than 130 appearances for the club.
Now 34, Bebe became a free agent just days ago having terminated his Rayo deal – and he has already found a new club.
Spanish second-tier side Racing Ferrol have confirmed the signing of Bebe on a free transfer.
Estadio Deportivo claim that Tenerife were also interested in landing Bebe but Racing Ferrol have now completed the deal.
This is the 12th club of Bebe’s career after Estrela da Amadora, Vitoria de Guimaraes, Manchester United, Besiktas, Rio Ave, Pacos de Ferreira, Benfica, Cordoba, Rayo Vallecano, Eibar and Real Zaragoza.
The Cape Verde international will be looking to continue his love affair with Spanish football for a little while yet though having sealed his latest move.
Bebe joins a potential relegation battle
Racing Ferrol won promotion to Spain’s second tier in 2023, ending a 15-year absence.
Last season went well enough with 10th-place finish but this season has started in tricky fashion.
Racing Ferrol have started with one point from three games and now sit second-bottom of the Segunda Division table.
It’s early days yet but Racing Ferrol need somebody to come and change their momentum right now.
Bebe could be that man and the veteran forward will be looking to play a key role in dragging Racing Ferrol to safety, some 14 years since arriving at Old Trafford.
