Andre Onana is close to securing a move to Manchester United with the two clubs nearing an agreement.

Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana is ‘desperate’ to reunite with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, reports The Times.

The two clubs are said to be getting closer to finalising a fee for the goalkeeper, amid a desire to get the deal over the line.

Manchester United want Onana on board the plane for the US tour, with the squad set to fly out late next week.

Andre Onana to Manchester United

Andre Onana played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax, and both player and manager know exactly what they are getting.

The pair did have a difficult end to their spell at Ajax, with Ten Hag axing Onana for the KNVB Cup Final in April 2022, wth the goalkeeper already signing a pre-contract agreement with Inter.

It came amid a difficult season for Onana due to personal circumstances, which he has since bounced back from.

The good relations between Ten Hag and Onana outweighed the bad, with Onana his number one goalkeeper during his multiple Eredivisie title wins, and run to the Champions League semi-finals.

Onana led Inter Milan to the final last season, and will hope to go one better at Manchester United.

Agreement close

Fabrizio Romano reported last night that a deal between the two clubs is imminent.

He wrote: “Manchester United are now closing in on André Onana deal as final verbal proposal has been made during talks today.

#MUFC Understand it’s €50m fee plus €5m add ons. Structure of add ons being discussed then… done deal. It’s imminent, as expected.”
