How much RB Leipzig are now demanding for Benjamin Sesko, Man Utd’s top target

The race to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko is firmly on and involves Manchester United, after a summer that has seen the club linked with an array of strikers.

It’s no secret that Ruben Amorim wants to add to his strike force this summer.

After watching Rasmus Hojlund score just 10 goals across all competitions last season, a striker ranks high on the wishlist of most Manchester United fans this summer.

United missed out on Liam Delap after the former Ipswich Town striker opted to join Chelsea. Then, Viktor Gyokeres decided to sign for Arsenal over United.

The Red Devils have since been linked with a move for two strikers, including Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

United are now thought to be prioritising a move for Sesko over Watkins, which could mean the Slovenian will get a dream move to Old Trafford this summer, granted an agreement is reached between the clubs.

With the race to sign Sesko heating up, and also involving Newcastle, we could be facing important days with key meetings over the next week. The new Premier League season is getting closer, and Ruben Amorim will want to secure a new centre forward before it starts against Arsenal.

RB Leipzig demand £64m plus add-ons for Benjamin Sesko

It has been reiterated that Manchester United are prioritising a move for Sesko, if they are fortunate enough to sign a striker this summer.

Informal contact has been made with RB Leipzig after Sesko emerged as their preferred option over Watkins.

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Leipzig are seeking a fee of £75m plus add-ons as well as a sell-on percentage for any future deal involving Sesko.

The report also stresses United’s hierarchy is reluctant to pay what they thought it may have taken for Villa to consider doing business for Watkins, with the Midlands club adamant that they will not sell the 29-year-old.

It’s a lot of money for United to spend when recently everyone believed they were reliant on sales to make more signings. This means Jason Wilcox, along with Christopher Vivell, has a lot of work to do.

United still have Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia on the wage book.

When is Sesko next in action for Leipzig?

Leipzig have recently started a training camp in Donaueschigen and have two more friendlies to play before the Bundesliga campaign begins.

On Saturday, at the Red Bull Arena, Sesko could feature against Atalanta in a pre-season friendly.

All eyes will be on whether the United target will play amid recent transfer links.

Leipzig’s final pre-season fixture is against RC Lens in France.
