Manchester United-linked midfielder Angelo Stiller featured in Stuttgart’s 4-1 win over Celtic in the Europa League.
Although Manchester United are not competing in Europe this season, there will be scouts keeping a close eye on the Champions League and Europa League for potential signings.
The play-offs are taking place now, but United are focused on the Premier League and securing a spot in the Champions League for next season.
That is a possibility under Michael Carrick, with the Red Devils currently sitting fourth in the league table, granted they can get back to winning ways following a 1-1 draw against West Ham earlier this month.
Prove me wrong: Michael Carrick has already shown enough to become permanent Man United manager.
13 points from 15 would be title winning form over a full season…
However, United had plenty of reasons to keep an eye on the Europa League this week.
Two midfield targets were in action as Elliot Anderson recorded an assist in Nottingham Forest’s 3-0 win over Fenerbahce.

Angelo Stiller mistake led to goal as Stuttgart beat Celtic
Stuttgart look set to make the Europa League last 16 after skipping past Celtic in the first leg of their play-off.
The Bundesliga side got off to a dream start as Bilal El Khannouss scored the opener after 15 minutes, but Celtic scored an equaliser six minutes later.
United target Angelo Stiller was guilty of misreading a pass directed towards him at the end of the box when Stuttgart attempted to play out from the back.
After Stiller gave up possession in a dangerous area, Nygren equalised for Celtic.
El Khannouss popped up again to make it 2-1, but this time Stiller made a positive contribution. It was his deflected cross that led to their second goal.
In the second half, Jamie Leweling scored Stuttgart’s third from outside the box, before substitute Tiago Tomas sealed the win at 4-1.
Although Stiller’s mistake in the first half led to a Celtic goal, the United target performed well and looked calm in possession of the ball.
The 24-year-old played 89 minutes with an 89% pass success rate, while making five defensive contributions.
Stiller touched the ball 83 times throughout the match and made 10 passes into the final third.

Man Utd narrow midfield target list including Angelo Stiller
It has been suggested for a long time that United would revamp their midfield in the summer.
That seems inevitable following on from Casemiro’s exit announcement, but there is no shortage of options in the market.
Reliable journalist Ben Jacobs recently explained to The United Stand that United have narrowed their midfield target list significantly.
Two months ago, United had 8-12 targets to consider, but now the shortlist focuses on Anderson, Baleba, Wharton, Stiller and Sandro Tonali.
