Benfica’s Gonçalo Ramos had a stellar season in Portugal, as a result Europe’s top clubs are circling, including Manchester United.
The Mirror report Erik ten Hag has turned his intentions to the Portuguese forward, after cooling his interest in Harry Kane.
Gonçalo Ramos smashed in 25 goals this season making him one of Europe’s hottest striking talents.
The forward has a release clause of around £100m however reports from A BOLA in Portugal suggest he could be available for around £80m.
A BOLA continue to state that should a transfer not occur, Ramos has been promised a pay rise at his boyhood club.
This likely because despite being contracted until 2025, his salary doesn’t reflect his status as one of their best players.

Benfica identify Gonçalo Ramos replacements
Despite no seemingly advanced talks, Benfica appear to be preparing for life without their prized asset.
O Jogo have reported the Portuguese champions has “several” forwards on their radar. Names including Enes Undal of Getafe and Santiago Gimenez of Feyenoord who scored 23 in 45 to end the season.
Having such a comprehensive list of replacements could signal a deal is more likely than it seems currently.
Benfica are no strangers to losing their prized attacking star, with Darwin Nunez departing just a year ago for £85m, only for the youngster Ramos to take his place.
Ramos shot to stardom during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, scoring a hat-trick in the Round of 16 against Switzerland.
Following this game back in December, Bruno Fernandes raved about the forward. United’s captain explained to The Athletic:
“He’s a player that runs and works a lot, helps the team defensively, he’s that type of striker that is everywhere.”
This being a perfect description of what ten Hag will be searching for in a number nine, so it’s no surprise to see the links.
