Manchester United are on the verge of signing goalkeeper Altay Bayindir with former midfielder Fred seemingly confirming the move.
We are expecting to see confirmation of Dean Henderson’s move to Crystal Palace very soon.
The England international will leave to chase first-team action elsewhere rather than sit behind Andre Onana.
That does though mean that United need to bring in another goalkeeper to offer competition for Onana moving forward.
There have been links to a number of goalkeeper over the last week but Fenerbahce stopper Altay Bayindir is the man coming in.
Fred appears to confirm Altay Bayindir to Manchester United
Rumours have been mounting in recent days and Bayindir even seemed to say goodbye to Fenerbahce on Thursday night.
Bayindir was an unused substitute int the 5-1 win over FC Twente but he was able to say an emotional farewell after the final whistle.
If there was any doubt over Bayindir’s move to Old Trafford, then they have been played down by former United midfielder Fred.
United sold Fred to Fenerbahce this summer and that may have made this move for Bayindir a little easier.
MORE UNITED STORIES
Fred has now told Milliyet in Turkey that he has already said goodbye to Bayindir and has wished him luck at United.
Fred has of course warned Bayindir about the Manchester weather but has recommended him an area to live and believes that he will be ‘very happy’ at Old Trafford.
“I wished him good luck when he left,” said Fred. “He is going to a great team. I made some suggestions for a neighbourhood where he could live. I said that it rained a lot. Altay will be very happy at Manchester United,” he added.

How much are United paying for Bayindir?
Fred’s comments seem to be solid confirmation that Bayindir will be confirmed as a United player soon enough.
Bayindir is inside the final year of his Fenerbahce contract so United are getting something of a bargain.
The Daily Mail claim that United are paying just £4.3million to bring Bayindir to England.
Fabrizio Romano reports that the total package is worth around £6million, with add-ons potentially taking the deal up to that mark.
Either way, it’s a low-cost move for United, replacing Henderson for a mere fraction of the fee coming in.
Bayindir is a huge presence at 6ft 6in tall and will be looking to prove himself whenever he gets the chance to fill in for Onana.
