Manchester United fans may already have a soft spot for Boca Juniors but that could be about to grow with one key signing.
South American football isn’t shown prominently in the UK, but the Copa Libertadores final tends to receive a big billing.
The equivalent of the Champions League in South America, the Copa Libertadores is a huge deal for all clubs involved.
Manchester United fans turning on their televisions in 2023 would have seen Boca Juniors lose the Copa Libertadores final at the hands of Fluminense.
A few familiar faces were involved; former United duo Sergio Romero and Edinson Cavani helped take Boca to the final.
Marcos Rojo sadly missed out on the final having been sent off in the semi-finals, something which may not stun United supporters.

Boca Juniors make offer to ex-Manchester United ace
That trio of former United players all arguably become cult heroes in their own ways at Old Trafford, so Boca will have a special place in the hearts of some United fans.
Well, that sentiment may only grow as Boca are moving to sign yet another former United favourite.
TyC Sports in Argentina report that Boca have now made an offer to sign midfielder Ander Herrera.
Herrera is currently playing for Athletic Club in Spain having returned to the club United plucked him from back in 2014.
The Spaniard was loved at Old Trafford having turned in so many committed performances in the United engine room.
Herrera left United in 2019, deciding to join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.
Herrera has continued supporting United from afar and the 35-year-old is now weighing up a stunning move to Argentina.
Now 35, Herrera may fancy a fascinating adventure late in his career and the report notes that Herrera remains close with Rojo from their time at United.
That former United trio could now become a quartet with Herrera understood to have initiated contact over the move himself.
Ander Herrera hinted at Boca Juniors love in 2023
This potential move may seem a little bizarre but Herrera’s interest in a switch to Boca actually adds up.
Herrera took to Instagram in 2023 to post a video of himself at La Bombonera, right in the mix with the Boca fans as he visited Rojo.
Herrera and Rojo posed together with Herrera simply stating ‘unforgettable’ alongside a host of images from his trip to Buenos Aires.
Now potentially ready to join Boca and Rojo, Herrera would certainly have the support of United fans as he bids for a Copa Libertadores run in 2025.
If Boca weren’t already in the hearts of United fans, Herrera’s potential move may just make them the ‘second team’ for United supporters everywhere.
