Fabrizio Romano shares latest Jadon Sancho transfer update in rapidly developing situation

Manchester United have done most of their business before the deadline day so there’s unlikely to be a panic trolley dash now.

However, their could be multiple sales and the name expected to dominate the headlines is that of Jadon Sancho.

Juventus were recently reported to have dropped out of the race while United have slashed the asking price for him, but Sancho is still likely to exit Old Trafford.

The Englishman is at the centre of a rapidly developing situation between Juventus and Chelsea and now, Fabrizio Romano has shared the latest on him.

Fabrizio Romano on Jadon Sancho

As Juventus struggle to arrange the funds that satisfy United’s demands for Sancho, Chelsea have worked in the background on the deal.

It is worth noting that Sancho grew up around the London area and has been reported to be a Chelsea fan growing up so a move there could appeal to him.

However, the prospect of Raheem Sterling going the other way is not an attractive one but the Blues consider Sancho an opportunity and are working hard behind the scenes to make it happen.

Fabrizio Romano went on his YouTube channel and said that Sancho’s move to Juventus is currently at “standby” but there have been developments on the Chelsea front.

He said: “At the moment, Juventus are in total standby for Sancho and feel a deal for the player will be very difficult for them.

“Chelsea are keeping contacts active. They want to include at least one player, ideally Raheem Sterling. I can tell you that Chelsea spoke again to the agents of the player today.” [Sancho comments start at 12.17]

Manchester United need to make the best of it

As it stands, United might have to bite the bullet and do a deal with Chelsea if they are adamant on getting rid of Sancho.

What they need to do in that case is make the best of a bad situation by not agreeing to take on Sterling in exchange.

Chelsea have an abundance of exciting young players who have lost their way in the crowd at the club and someone like Carney Chukwuemeka or Trevoh Chalobah will be much better.

If they are intent on swapping a player for Sancho, United can’t let that player be an older version of Sancho on higher wages because they’ll be clear losers if that’s the case.

A similar scenario was looking like it was set to unfold in their chase for Manuel Ugarte as Paris Saint-Germain were stubborn with their asking price but United got that done on their terms.

The contract Glazers gave Sancho is now Ineos’ headache to solve but just like they’ve been doing all season, they need to make lemonade.

Landing an exciting young player in return will be the ideal way to do it.
