The transfer window work at Manchester United never stops, and amid links to Karim Adeyemi, Fabrizio Romano has shared the exact type of player club are looking for.

Ruben Amorim’s Man Utd has been all about intensity, physicality, pace, and winning your duels, which is why Karim Adeyemi became a natural target.

The Borussia Dortmund attacker is absolutely rapid, and with his ability to play behind the striker or as a No. 9, he was an exciting option.

Fabrizio Romano has now shared the latest update on those links, along with describing the exact profile of the player United are looking at.

Man Utd’s Karim Adeyemi update

United almost had a wrench thrown into their ideal transfer plans with an injury to Benjamin Sesko, but the worst-case scenario didn’t come true for the issue.

As a result, their January transfer plans changed again, having previously made up their mind to target a forward in the winter window.

Adeyemi, as a result, is set to fade into the background, and Romano has said that United haven’t been in talks for the player.

He said: “My information is that at this moment, Man United are not negotiating for Karim Adeyemi. Man United have not made any approach on the player or the club side.

“As of today, if you ask me, are Manchester United negotiating with the agents of Adeyemi? From what I’m told at this stage, United have not started a concrete negotiation for Karim Adeyemi.”

Ruben Amorim targeting a clear profile of players

Romano went on to add that, despite negotiations for Adeyemi being a smokescreen as of this moment, he fits exactly in the type of player the club are targeting.

He said: “Man United are looking at that kind of player, so a player who can play as a winger, as a number 10, say behind the striker and be electric and skilful. Karim Adeyemi is very fast. Man United are following several players with those skills, and Adeyemi is one of the best in Europe with this.”

It’s clear from those quotes that Amorim has settled on a system at Old Trafford that relies on turning defence into attack quickly.

He wants mavericks in the final third who can create something out of nothing, like Matheus Cunha, or pure speedsters like Adeyemi, who keep the defence on their toes.

Adeyemi’s links were always going to take a backseat for January because Sesko’s injury is not that serious, but do not rule out a re-emergence of his name next summer.
