Manchester United are reported to have set a deadline on negotiations to sign Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount.

Fabrizio Romano reports Manchester United want to conclude a deal for Mason Mount by the end of the next week, which is also the end of June.

He writes: “Understand sources feel Mason Mount deal has to be completed by the end of next week.

#MUFC Manchester United will bid again as said yesterday but insist for quick resolution — won’t keep negotiating for too long. £60/65m enough to convince Chelsea. Personal terms agreed.”

Mason Mount latest

The Star reported earlier today that Manchester United are nearing a £60 million agreement with Chelsea over Mason Mount.

However, an agreement has not been reached just yet. Talks are ongoing between the clubs. There was a £15 million gap in valuation yesterday.

Fabrizio Romano had reported that Mason Mount has ‘100 per cent’ agreed personal terms with Mount over a deal.

United want this deal tied up in time for Mount to be with Erik ten Hag’s squad when pre-season training begins in early July.

It is also important to get the deal done as it would be the club’s first summer signing, and there is still more left to do.

United need to strengthen at goalkeeper, and striker, and there could even be more additions in midfield and defence, budget permitting.

But working out how much funds are left for those deals, will be guided by how much money is spent on Mason Mount.

United won’t want this to drag on and on with no resolution like the Frenkie de Jong deal, and are right to set a deadline to work towards.
