Manchester United’s move for Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard has stalled following Harry Maguire’s move to West Ham United collapsing.
It was reported a few days back that the French defender’s move to United was unlikely according to The Mirror, but now it seems a Premier League rival may well be about to enter the race for the French defender.
Arsenal, who recently lost Jurrien Timber to an anterior cruciate ligament injury during their win against Nottingham Forest, are reportedly tentatively interested in the French defender in what could be a huge blow for Erik ten Hag.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners have added Pavard to their list of targets in the eventuality that they look for a replacement for Timber, also another former United target.

Pavard wants to force move
Romano also claims that the French defender is trying to force the issue and is desperate to leave Bayern Munich this summer.
United are struggling to afford the defender and with Harry Maguire set to stay, a deal may well have just got that bit more harder.
United may need to shift Scott McTominay or another high-value asset if they are able to sign a defender and also a midfielder. This is believed to be what United are looking for as the transfer window approaches it’s final two weeks of being open.
Another side interested in Pavard
As well as this, Romano claims that Inter Milan are also interested in the French defender, so United will seemingly face competition if they want to push through the deal for the 27-year-old.
MORE UNITED STORIES
A proposal from the Italian side is expected soon, so United may well have to look at alternative targets if they do want a defensive option in their side.
A new centre-back has been looked at and Pavard’s versatility makes him a good option but United’s struggles in selling players is seemingly causing them issues yet again.
