Fabrizio Romano has now dropped one all-important update on Chelsea-linked Alejandro Garnacho after Bayern Munich reportedly made an approach for the Manchester United winger.
Alejandro Garnacho has been frozen out of the Manchester United first-team squad and the 21-year-old winger has no further role to play under Ruben Amorim.
The Spain-born forward has been on the sidelines during United’s pre-season tour of Europe and the United States in the summer and the 2025-26 Premier League campaign.
Garnacho’s relationship fractured under Ruben Amorim at the tail end of the 2024-25 Premier League season and the United manager told him to look for a new club.
Chelsea are considered the favourites to sign Garnacho this summer, but an unexpected twist occurred with Bayern Munich’s approach to sign the United exile.

Fabrizio Romano speaks on Alejandro Garnacho and reveals Ineos have one major benefit in resolving the Man Utd star’s future
According to The Sun on Tuesday, Bayern Munich’s desire to sign Alejandro Garnacho fell short after the Manchester United winger turned down the approach.
It is believed that Garnacho wants to remain in England and the Argentina international is holding out for a move to London with Premier League side Chelsea.
Fabrizio Romano took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and revealed that Chelsea are “advancing” in their transfer pursuit of Garnacho.
He added that there was “no chance” that reigning German champions Bayern would land Garnacho due to the United outcast’s desire to play for Chelsea.
Romano’s post on Tuesday included another major detail in the transfer saga, specifically on the importance of key United figure Omar Berrada for Ineos.
He explained that United’s chief executive officer has an “excellent relationship” with the Chelsea hierarchy amid the Red Devils’ desire to offload Garnacho from the club.
Omar Berrada could be Ineos’ ace in the hole for ensuring that Alejandro Garnacho leaves Old Trafford amid the Chelsea links
Omar Berrada is a prominent figure in the Ineos regime under Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his relationship with Chelsea could be the difference-maker in sealing a transfer.
United are keen to sell Garnacho before the summer window shuts on 1st September, but the Red Devils are still waiting for the right offer to be made.
It has been reported that United have valued the Chelsea and Bayern-linked player at £50m, but the Blues believe they can land Garnacho for a cheaper price point.
Garnacho is under contract with United until 2028 and the Argentina international has made 144 appearances for the club, scoring 26 times and registering 22 assists.
