Fabrizio Romano claims Sergio Reguilon will decide on another transfer after Man Utd axe

Tottenham Hotspur left back Sergio Reguilon could now make another Premier League move having been axed by Manchester United earlier this month.

United ended up in desperation mode at left back before the summer transfer deadline.

Tyrell Malacia picked up an injury in pre-season and Luke Shaw joined him on the treatment table with United struggling for options.

There were links to the likes of Marcos Alonso and Nicolas Tagliafico but United ended up striking a deal for Sergio Reguilon.

The Tottenham left back arrived at Old Trafford on loan with a break option in January.

Reguilon only managed four Premier League starts for United before being sent back to Tottenham earlier this month with Erik ten Hag happy for him to go.

Brentford moving for Sergio Reguilon

Reguilon is now back with Tottenham but clearly has no future under Ange Postecoglou.

The Spaniard isn’t under consideration for first-team action as Tottenham would like to move him on again this month and one appearance for Spurs would rule out another transfer.

Sky Sports claim that Brentford are now interested in signing Reguilon on loan to cover for the injured Rico Henry.

Henry won’t return this season and Reguilon is now seen as a short-term solution with Tottenham keen to get him out on loan again.

Fabrizio Romano now adds that Brentford have held talks with Tottenham and the final decision is now in Reguilon’s hands.

Other clubs are interested and Reguilon is weighing up his options, but we could see him stay in the Premier League and play against United on the 30th of March.

Manchester United’s left back spot still a problem

Reguilon has moved on yet United are still without Malacia and Shaw is out once again.

That meant Aaron Wan-Bissaka started as a left back against Tottenham on Sunday, a rather unfamiliar role for him.

Diogo Dalot can play there too but United are still chopping at left back as Ten Hag waits to finally have both Malacia and Shaw available at the same time.

Reguilon’s exit speaks volumes; United still have problems at left back but Ten Hag still decided to let Reguilon leave.

It’s clear that Reguilon just wasn’t trusted by Ten Hag and he now finds himself considering whether to join another Premier League club for the second half of the season.
