Fabrizio Romano claims Man Utd misfit undergoing exit medical this morning

Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek is in Germany right now as he finalises a move to Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt.

We have been expecting to see Donny van de Beek leave United in the January transfer window.

United fans were pretty excited when a deal worth up to £39million was struck for Van de Beke in 2020.

The Dutchman has impressed as a goalscoring midfielder in Erik ten Hag’s Ajax side but has never hit those heights for United.

A loan move to Everton didn’t work and even the appointment of Ten Hag didn’t get Van de Beek back on track.

Van de Beek will now be on the move again – but it’s another loan move for the 26-year-old.

Donny van de Beek set for Eintracht Frankfurt move

Fabrizio Romano reports that Van de Beek is now in Germany this morning as he undergoes a medical with Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt.

There was some confusion on Monday as sports indicated that Van de Beek would be heading to Germany for his medical.

Van de Beek was then seen in training at Carrington on Monday though, leaving some to wonder just what was going on.

Romano claims that Van de Beek is now Germany though and is going through his medical checks.

It’s added that the deal will be a loan until the end of the season with an option to buy rather than an obligation.

That will be worth €15million (£13million) made up of an €11million (£9.5million) fixed fee and €4million (£3.5million) in add-ons.

Van de Beek needs United exit

Van de Beek must now impress in order to land that permanent move – and United will be hoping that happens.

There were high hopes for Van de Beek but it has become abundantly clear that he will not live up to the price tag.

That United are willing to let Van de Beek go out on loan even with the likes of Casemiro and Mason Mount out of action speaks volumes.

United and Ten Hag just don’t see Van de Beek as part of the plans, as seen by his tally of just two minutes of Premier League action this season.

Van de Beek will now hopefully play regularly and shine for Frankfurt and bring the curtain down on an ultimately disappointing spell at Old Trafford.
