Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani has been the subject of heavy speculation this summer, with rumours almost daily about the Frenchman’s future linking Manchester United.

According to the Independent, Paris Saint Germain have emerged as the front runners for the 24-year-old’s signature with United and Tottenham Hotspur, who face the prospect of losing Harry Kane to Bayern Munich, set to miss out.

This could be the domino effect that the striker market has seemingly been waiting for. With Kylian Mbappe looking to leave for Real Madrid, and Victor Osimhen being linked to almost every big club looking for a striker, if PSG were to replace Mbappe with Kolo Muani, then this should lead to big moves in the striker market.

This could lead to United’s pursuit of Rasmus Hojlund, who is reportedly the top target, hit a snag with a whole host of sides suddenty looking for a centre-forward and the Danish striker fitting the bill.

Kolo Muani was believed to be a United target

Kolo Muani has repeatedly been linked with United, with The Athletic claiming, back in June, that the Frankfurt forward and Hojlund were the two number-one targets for the striker spot, which was believed to be the most pressing area of concern for Erik ten Hag going into next season.

But, the report from The Independent states that Paris may well be the destination for the forward. It also states that the chase for the Frankfurt forward is unrelated to the future of Mbappe.

The report states: “PSG are understood to have successfully sold the idea that a return to his home nation will suit him better at this point in his career.”

With the German side previously demanding £100 million, the report states that Frankfurt would accept £80 million for the talented forward.

Latest on Hojlund

Hojlund, who is a United fan, is reportedly keen on the idea of joining the Old Trafford club, so the impending move for Kolo Muani is not thought to affect United’s pursuit of the 21-year-old.

Sky Sports News claimed earlier today that United were in talks with Atalanta for Hojlund, with Amad Diallo reportedly being floated as a makeweight in the deal.

United would loan the Ivorian forward to Atalanta, but Ten Hag is keen to see how the forward fares in pre-season before making a decision over his future.
