Evan Ferguson to be offered new contract to make Manchester United move more difficult

Manchester United linked striker Evan Ferguson is set to be offered a new contract by Brighton and Hove Albion.

Ferguson, 18, has been one of the breakout stars of the 2022/23 season, also scoring his first international goal for Republic of Ireland during the break.

Predictably, Ferguson has been linked with a move to Manchester United, who are on the hunt for new strikers this summer.

90Min report Manchester United have been tracking Ferguson’s progress all season, also claiming that Bayern Munich are keen.

Evan Ferguson to get new contract offer

Evan Ferguson is under contract until 2026, however, he is on a low wage not commensurate with his status as a first team regular for Brighton.

The Sun report Brighton are set to offer the wonderkid a ‘mega contract’ in an attempt to try and convince him to stay.

At the very least, it would strengthen their hand, and help the Seagulls to demand a higher price from interested clubs.

The report claims United’s interest goes back a further two years when he was at Irish club Bohemians.

Manchester United have a unique advantage in the race for the teenage striker, who has seven first team goals for Brighton so far.

Ferguson is on record saying he grew up a Manchester United supporter, and even used to idolise his current Brighton teammate Danny Welbeck.

Manchester United still have to face Ferguson’s Brighton twice this season, including a date later in April in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.
