Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been clear he wants to sign a striker this summer.
Erik ten Hag spoke at the weekend about Manchester United’s need for a forward, telling Sky Sports: “It’s no secret we have a shortage of Number 9s.”
The big question coming up ahead of the transfer window is ‘who?’.
Strategically United need to look at the budget for the summer and assess the need for a striker against other requirements in midfield, in goal, and defence.
Harry Kane under consideration
According to The Telegraph, all options are on the table. The report states Erik ten Hag is refusing to rule out a club record deal to sign Harry Kane.
Kane has scored 27 goals for Tottenham this season and is looking increasingly frustrated amid another trophyless year for his club.
Manchester United have won one trophy already this season and have reached another cup final, showing a real positive direction under Ten Hag.
Kane would cost a substantial fee. United’s club record transfer is the £89 million spent on Paul Pogba in 2016.
The Times has reported Tottenham want £100 million for Kane. As the transfer window nears, United will have to make a decision one way or another, to pursue the England forward, or move in another direction.
Right now it appears the possibility of moving for Kane is firmly on the table.
