Erik ten Hag has made a decision on Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.

Scott was linked with moving away from Old Trafford in the summer, which led to rumours he could also depart in January.

The 26-year-old has been on the fringe of the starting XI this season and last. He’s considerably fallen out of favour in the sixth spot since the arrival of Casemiro.

However, after a remarkable cameo against Brentford and some fine international displays, it appears Ten Hag has decided whether he wants to keep the £40m man.

Report: Ten Hag makes McTominay decision

According to a report from the Daily Star, Scott McTominay is expected to stay at Manchester United after Erik ten Hag ruled out a mid-season move for the Scotland international.

The Dutchman now allegedly believes he has become too important for the Red Devils to lose.

This comes after the fact that the club tried selling him in the summer, with sides such as West Ham United, Newcastle United and even European giants Bayern Munich keen to acquire his signature.

United right to keep McTominay?

McTominay is a very strange player in our eyes.

He has the capability for the absolute spectacular. The Scotsman really comes into his own for his country, he becomes an absolute warrior who is without a doubt the most important man on the pitch.

He also knows where the goal is. Naturally, having previously been a striker, Scott has a keen eye for a chance and has cropped up with some mightily important strikes during his time in Manchester.

However, despite all this – it’s seriously difficult to justify whether he has the ability to lock down that six role. His defensive capabilities are definitely questionable.

There is little doubt he can be an important figure for United this season and shouldn’t be sold in January, but if a £40m buyer comes knocking in the summer? It may be wise to cash in.
