Eredivisie forward who has 12 goals in 9 games urged to move to Man United this summer

Feyenoord forward Santiago Gimenez has been advised to move to Manchester United or Real Madrid as his 12-goal start to the season is attracting the attention of Europe’s top clubs.

After joining the Dutch side from Mexican outfit Cruz Azul, Santiago Gimenez netted 28 goals for the Dutch side in his debut season and has added a further 12 in just nine appearances.

Well, the Mexican striker has been encouraged to move to Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United or Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid.

After United shelled out £64 million for Rasmus Hojlund this summer, it does seem unlikely that the Red Devils would be interested in another striker.

Gimenez encouragement

Former Feyenoord star Willem van Hanegem, speaking in Dutch outlet Feyenoord Nieuws, believes Gimenez has the desired qualities to play for one of the big sides in England or Spain.

“He has the qualities to play at the absolute top, in England or Spain,” Van Hanegem said. ” It would be great if he plays for Real Madrid or Manchester United.

“He will only remain at Feyenoord for the time being. Everyone likes him very much; he doesn’t get nervous when he misses an opportunity.”

United, however, could well be in the market if one man departs the club.

Anthony Martial’s future

You wonder if United would move for the Mexican forward if Anthony Martial departed the club with his contract set to expire this summer.

A report earlier this week from ESPN claimed that United were unsure whether to trigger the one-year option in the forward’s contract when he signed a new deal under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer back in January 2019.

Gimenez would represent a superb option for the Red Devils if indeed United did make a move for the Mexican forward.

However, at this moment time, the striker has yet to be linked with the club, a deal couldn’t be ruled out after Ten Hag’s previous dealings with the Eredivisie as United boss.
