Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has been the subject of intense speculation this summer about a move away from Old Trafford.

The Dutch midfielder joined United back in 2020 but has struggled to nail down a starting spot for the Red Devils and now looks set to depart the club.

Real Sociedad seemed the most likely destination for the former Ajax midfielder but that deal stalled, according to a report by 90min, the Spanish side then set their sights elsewhere and focused on signing Arsen Zakharyan from Dynamo Moscow.

The Dutch midfielder has recently been linked with a move to Turkish side Galatasaray but it seems another side have entered the fray for the 26-year-old.

Fenerbahce interest

According to A Spor, a Turkish outlet, Fenerbahce have set their sights on the midfielder and are now pushing to sign Van de Beek. However, with just 10 days remaining before the transfer window closes, the Turkish giants will have to get a move on.

If Van de Beek manages to make a switch to Fenerbahçe, he won’t be eligible to play in the Europa Conference League group stage as the deadline to submit the squad was Monday.

The midfielder would probably move to the Turkish side on loan and he is said to be ‘keen’ on leaving Old Trafford.

Van de Beek’s limited minutes at United to continue

According to the same report, the Dutchman could well be deployed as the deepest midfielder for the Turkish side and Van de Beek’s versatility is believed to be one of the big reasons behind the push from Fenerbahce.

The Dutchman is out in the cold at Old Trafford so United will be hoping to get the midfielder off their books to try and lower the wage bill.

With the signings of Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat, as well as the emergence of Kobbie Mainoo, Van de Beek’s chances in the first team would be limited, to say the least.
