Manchester United remain admirers of Dutch last 16 hero Denzel Dumfries, says Fabrizio Romano.
Dumfries scored the Netherlands’ third goal against USA and provided two assists, in one of the best individual performances displays of the World Cup so far.
The right-back starred previously at Euro 2020 and has previously been linked to Manchester United by Calciomercato.
Manchester United need to sign a right-back to compete with Diogo Dalot, but Fabrizio Romano suggests the 26-year-old’s price tag would make it difficult.

Romano told his YouTube channel: “We know he was in the list of Manchester United during the summer but then Inter decided to keep the player.
“He’s been amazing with the Netherlands in the World Cup, scoring goals providing assists, but now is about the price.
“Inter are not open to sell Dumfries for 25 to 30m Euros, they want way more than this, and also the player is really happy in Milan.
“To see a potential change for Dumfries in January, a really huge bid is needed. He’s a player that’s been appreciated a long time by Manchester United and Chelsea.”
He went on to clarify: “At the moment there are no negotiations ongoing.”
Realistically if Inter were to sell Dumfries, they would be seeking around £40 million, especially after the World Cup.
This should rule United out. While it’s a fee United could afford to pay, it is not one the club would choose to pay, especially in January.
Paying this kind of money for a player would see them expect to start. But United really want a back-up for Diogo Dalot.
A younger, cheaper option of a similar profile to Tyrell Malacia is likely to be the type of deal United go for at right-back, providing progress is made with Diogo Dalot’s contract extension.
If the club are fearful Dalot could walk away, this is the scenario in which United would pull the trigger on Dumfries – but this is a scenario which would only occur next summer, if at all.
