‘Decisive day’ for Manchester United move for Andre Onana, claims Di Marzio

Manchester United are reported to be set for a decisive day over a move for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana.

A crucial 24 hours could lie ahead for Manchester United’s move for the goalkeeper, claims Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

Di Marzio reports: “Friday 30 June will be decisive for understanding whether Manchester United will present an offer for the Nerazzurri goalkeeper. Inter are asking for 50 million plus bonuses.”

Talks between Manchester United have Inter Milan have been held this week, reports Gazzetta dello Sport.

The fee Inter are looking for is in Euros, so they are demanding £42 million, and with add-ons, the total cost of a deal could rise to £52 million, Alfredo Pedulla reported.

Manchester United must make a decision

Manchester United are keeping everybody on hold.

David de Gea‘s future is currently undetermined, his contract expires on June 30 at midnight. The sale of Dean Henderson is being kept back, until a decision is being made over the club’s next number one.

While this could be Andre Onana, Manchester United have not yet submitted an offer, and Di Marzio describes a ‘fundamental’ day ahead to establish the Red Devils’ intentions.

If United do release De Gea and replace him with Onana, it will be a ruthless decision, but the club have also acted quite indecisively up until this point.

It is still possible United re-sign the Spaniard, and ask him to be a number two. Any contract offer would be substantially lower than his current salary as the club’s best paid player.

However, after his poor performances late last season, including the FA Cup final, many fans are in favour of ditching the goalkeeper altogether, even if United have handled this whole situation poorly.

If this latest report is right, we could all be a lot clearer on the club’s chosen direction in 24 hours time.
