Contact has been made with Feyenoord over a potential deal for Justin Bijlow, amid fears Andre Onana is too expensive.

According to The Athletic, due to the prioritisation of a new centre-forward Manchester United have found themselves looking at cheaper options in net.

It was thought earlier today that a bid for Andre Onana was imminent after Inter Milan’s CEO said he was expecting an offer.

The Mirror have today reported that FFP restrictions mean United don’t have the funds to spend the £60million that Onana would cost.

The report from The Mirror adds, “The £60 million deal they have agreed to pay Chelsea for midfielder Mason Mount will account for half of the club’s £120 million transfer budget.”

This has garnered questions from many, as it is unclear why United would meet with Inter Milan and negotiate if they knew they couldn’t afford Onana.

Contact made with Feyenoord over Bijlow

The Athletic have insisted that contact has already been made for Justin Bijlow, with the Dutch goalkeeper expected to cost £20m. However it is also expected that Feyenoord are very reluctant to sell the 25-year-old.

Bijlow’s signing could allow the signing of Rasmus Hojlund to go ahead for the reported £38m asking price.

The Athletic‘s report also mentions the possibility that David de Gea could indeed still sign a new deal. With talks expected once he returns to England, in order to save money for a striker.

Bijlow joining would likely still allow for the signing of a striker in the ilk of Rasmus Hojlund for the reported £38m fee.

Raising funds through player sales could be a way United can obtain greater flexibility in their options, with Dean Henderson expected to be sold, along with Fred who is wanted by Fulham.

It is unclear what is the truth in this situation, as Italian press claim an Onana deal could be imminent, it likely won’t be long before we find out the truth.
