Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho is in contact with Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzic but a return is considered unlikely.
This was viewed as a potential make-or-break season for Jadon Sancho at Manchester United – and it doesn’t look great.
Sancho showed promise as a false nine in pre-season after two very mixed seasons at Old Trafford.
The 23-year-old played just 77 Premier League minutes across three substitute appearances to start the season before all hell broke loose.
Sancho was completely left out of United’s trip to Arsenal before the international break, with Erik ten Hag stating after the game that his training performance led to him being axed.
Sancho hit back on social media and the Daily Mail claim that the winger refused to apologise to Ten Hag, so he is now banished from the first-team picture.
Jadon Sancho to Borussia Dortmund considered unlikely
A January departure looks like the only move now, barring a major turnaround from Sancho.
This isn’t how United expected Sancho’s career to go after securing a huge £73million deal in 2021.
Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg now reports that Sancho is ‘on the verge’ of leaving United in January.
Plettenberg claims that a loan move is the most likely step with the wheels seemingly already in motion.
It’s added that Sancho is in ‘regular contact’ with Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzic, with great mutual respect between the pair.
However, a return to Dortmund is considered ‘very unlikely’ even if the move isn’t 100% off the table right now.
Sancho wants first-team minutes and is ready to leave United in search of playing time – but it’s unclear just where he will go.

Dortmund would be a great destination for Sancho
Dortmund is where Sancho really made his name having quit Manchester City for a move to Germany in 2017.
Sancho’s numbers in a Dortmund shirt were ridiculous; 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 games.
That’s why United paid such a huge fee to sign him, but 12 goals and six assists in 82 United games is nowhere near his Dortmund form.
A move back to Dortmund would allow Sancho to get out of the spotlight for the second half of the season, getting back to playing regularly in front of a fanbase who already love him.
A deal won’t be easy considering Sancho’s wages but if a potential deal is on the table, it’s one United and Sancho should strongly consider in an effort to either get him back on track or recover some of his transfer value.
