Brazilian star may have just become Man Utd ideal target as Serie A club consider new exit stance

Manchester United may be focused on attacking additions this summer, but Ruben Amorim will also consider a new midfield signing.

Matheus Cunha has joined Manchester United from Wolverhampton Wanderers, but that deal is unlikely to be the end of Ruben Amorim’s attacking recruitment.

United continue to chase Bryan Mbeumo and will hope to have a deal in place for the Brentford forward very soon.

Once that pursuit meets its conclusion, United will turn the attention to other areas of Amorim’s squad.

A striker will become a priority, but Amorim will surely want to add another midfielder to his ranks as well – and one name stands out.

Juventus stance on Douglas Luiz loan

United are hoping to offload Jadon Sancho this summer, after the winger returned to Old Trafford from his Chelsea loan spell.

Reports in June suggested that Juventus wanted to sign Sancho in a swap deal featuring either Dusan Vlahovic or Douglas Luiz.

United are understood to be interested in Luiz, who brings Premier League experience from his time with Aston Villa.

The Brazilian has failed to make an impact since joining Juve last summer, and the Serie A club are certainly interested in a summer transfer.

Tuttomercatoweb now claim that Juventus are warming to the idea of sending Luiz out on loan with a view to a €30million (£26million) next summer.

Juve’s hopes of selling Luiz for €40million (£34.5million) appear to have fallen flat, meaning a loan with option or obligation to buy is now a possibility.

United will be well aware of this prospect, and that may actually make him even more ideal for Amorim’s squad building this summer.

Douglas Luiz could fit Manchester United’s midfield plan

Reports in June suggested United want a midfielder on loan in an attempt to bolster Amorim’s engine room options.

We noted at the time that it would be difficult for United to find a midfielder who could immediately improve Amorim’s options, while also being available on loan.

One name stood out to us, though, and it was Luiz.

Luiz’s Premier League experience, combined with his struggles at Juventus, meant a potential loan-to-buy deal just seemed to make sense.

Luiz’s ability to play as a deep-lying midfielder or in more of a box-to-box role will appeal to United, especially in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system.

Juve now appear to be coming around to the idea of a loan, and United will surely be interested in that proposal, no matter what happens with Sancho.

A loan would allow United to focus funds on other positions, with Ineos working on a tight budget this summer.

Attacking additions will be the focus, but Luiz will be a name to keep close tabs on as United’s next potential addition after Mbeumo.
