Borussia Dortmund director ‘surprised’ by Jadon Sancho transfer desire

Jadon Sancho has been linked with a summer move to Borussia Dortmund, but it doesn’t look like the Manchester United winger will be returning to the Bundesliga club for a third time.

This season saw Jadon Sancho leave Manchester United on loan for a third time.

Sancho made history as Aston Villa won the Europa League on Wednesday night, playing in a third European final with three different clubs (Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, and Villa).

Villa are unlikely to keep Sancho beyond this season, and his current deal is set to expire at Old Trafford.

Where does Jadon Sancho rank amongst Man Utd’s WORST-EVER signings?

Would you put him above Antony? Alexis Sanchez? What went wrong for him?

Latest twist in Jadon Sancho saga

Dortmund have been linked with Sancho, which would see him return to the familiar surroundings in the Ruhr region.

Sancho will be on a high right now after winning the Europa League, but it may come as a blow that Dortmund don’t sound keen on bringing him back to the club.

The 26-year-old may have won silverware, but his performances at Chelsea and Villa have been underwhelming over the past two seasons.

According to BILD, Dortmund’s sporting director Lars Ricken is said to have been surprised to learn that Sancho has allegedly expressed a desire to return.

The report adds that United are planning to extend Sancho’s expiring contract at short notice via a clause, which would allow them to demand a transfer fee rather than lose the England international as a free agent.

It would come as an even bigger surprise if Sancho were given an extension at Old Trafford. Most United fans thought he would be shown the door at the end of his contract.

Have the standards fallen at Man Utd, or is the chance to make history in a dead-rubber game a no-brainer?

Sancho has played a bit part role under Unai Emery, but it doesn’t look like Villa will try to sign the forward on a permanent deal.

Still, Sancho made 39 appearances for Villa throughout the season. He scored one goal and registered three assists in that time.
