Benfica are targeting Santiago Gimenez as a replacement for Manchester United transfer target Goncalo Ramos.
Manchester United were first reported to be eyeing a move for Goncalo Ramos via The Sun last year.
His outstanding performances at the World Cup, which included a hat-trick in a last 16 game, has since sent his valuation soaring.
The Benfica forward has a release clause in his contract of £103 million, the Manchester Evening News report.

Benfica identify replacement for Ramos
Portuguese newspaper Record report Benfica have identified Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez as a potential summer signing.
However, they will only push to sign Gimenez if they sell Goncalo Ramos, it is being reported.
Ramos has been an integral part of Benfica’s side this season, stepping up to replace Darwin Nunez, arguably a lot more effectively.
He has scored 16 goals and provided five assists in 21 league games, averaging a goal contribution in every match.
The 21-year-old has also struck a further eight goals in club cup competitions, taking his tally to 24.
It’s easy to see why Manchester United are keen, with Record reporting the Red Devils are considering paying big – despite his exaggerated release clause.

Should United chase Gimenez instead given Benfica’s talent ID?
Benfica have a remarkable record of finding prolific strikers. It’s fair to ask, whether United should skip Ramos and target their potential replacement Gimenez instead?
Gimenez is the same age, 21. He is a Mexico international who joined Feyenoord from Cruz Azul last summer for just £3 million.
He has scored 15 goals for the Dutch side this season, including five in seven Europa League matches, where he is averaging a goal every 46 minutes.
He wouldn’t suffice as United’s lead strike option, but if the club paid big for Harry Kane, say, taking a cheaper punt on Gimenez as a back-up might end up being a savvy move.
