Axel Disasi has confirmed his desire to play Champions League football as Manchester United look to lure the Monaco defender to Old Trafford in a potential £44 million deal.
Whether or not the France international stays or goes this summer could depend on what happens between now and the final day of the Ligue 1 season in May.
Disasi has never played Champions League football before; the qualifiers the closest he has come to gracing European football’s biggest stage. And, with Monaco fourth – three points adrift of the top-three – the 25-year-old’s hopes of reaching the promised land hang in the balance.
Euro 2024 is just over a year away. And Disasi knows that regular Champions League football could be exactly what he needs as he looks to force his way into Didier Deschamps’ XI at international level. As such, an offer from Manchester United – presuming Erik ten Hag can nail down a top-four finish –would test his loyalties to the limit.

Manchester United in talks to sign France international Axel Disasi
“Thanks to Monaco, I was able to reach the (France) squad. So, I am grateful to the club. For the rest, there will be a reflection that will be done,” Disasi tells Goal.
“To be called up, you have to play Europe regularly and be among the best. We are talking about the Champions League of course. I want to taste it, and I want to give myself the means to be there.”
Manchester United, according to The Mail, are in talks with Disasi. The £44 million-rated colossus, who can also play at right-back, would provide competition for the outstanding but ageing Raphael Varane, while opening the door for Harry Maguire to depart.
“I feel that I’m passing milestones. I’ve just turned 25, I want to know the very, very highest level,” Disasi adds.
