Arsenal ready to further United’s misery as they add former Erik ten Hag target to their radar

Arsenal are seemingly set to rub salt in the wounds for Manchester United, with the North London club ready to push for one of the club’s former targets.

Manchester United are struggling massively right now and have lost 8 out of the 15 games they have played this season.

Rasmus Hojlund has been one of the few successes this season after he joined the club from Atalanta for £64 million but it was another young, highly-rated striker that the club were originally keen on for just £20 million.

Benjamin Sesko, who joined RB Leipzig from RB Salzburg, has been linked with a move to Mikel Arteta’s title-chasing side.

Sesko to Arsenal

According to a report from The Mirror, Arteta’s Arsenal are keen on the Slovenian forward, who has looked promising in the Champions League this season with the German side and he has netted once in the competition.

The young forward turned down United’s approach for him according to the same report and it now seems that the Emirates Stadium could be the forward’s next home.

Scouts from the Gunners are reportedly monitoring him as the comparisons continue with Manchester City forward Erling Haaland.

Whether missing out on Sesko would be as catastrophic as it was last summer remains to be seen but the club could have got the young forward in early, and now are likely to miss out altogether.

United’s transfer market failings

It isn’t a coincidence that when United misses out on a player, these players usually go on to be world-beaters, and it seems the same is happening with Sesko.

Jude Bellingham and Haaland are just two examples of players who United missed out on who have since gone on to be world-class talents for other sides.

Missing out on Sesko is an issue which could look a whole lot worse if he ends up succeeding at Arsenal, regardless of how much they pay for him.
