Manchester United are still waiting on a couple of potential departures on transfer deadline day and two more players are being eyed up.

The final hours of the transfer window are here and Manchester United have some business to complete.

In terms of incomings, the focus is on Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

Ugarte completed a medical with United earlier this week and is expected to arrive before the window shuts.

Scott McTominay is set to leave United having touched down in Italy ahead of a move to Napoli.

There is also the small matter of Jadon Sancho, who is keen to join Chelsea – but whether United agree a deal to let him go remains to be seen.

Antony and Christian Eriksen transfer latest

That is likely to be the only business in terms of United’s first-team squad today, but an interesting rumour has emerged.

The Daily Mail (30/08, 14:04) claim that Real Betis are interested in signing not one but two United players.

It’s suggested that Betis would like to take Antony and Christian Eriksen on loan for the rest of the season.

Betis are set to lose star playmaker Nabil Fekir and want some star power in the final third.

However, Fabrizio Romano claims that Antony to Betis will not be happening as he wants to stay at United.

Maybe there is still a chance for Eriksen to end up in Andalusia, but Antony seemingly has no plans to depart Old Trafford on deadline day.

Antony faces Manchester United battle

Antony’s desire to turn his United career around is admirable and nobody can doubt his determination to become an Old Trafford hero.

The last two years have been difficult for the Brazilian though and his route to a starring role at United looks difficult.

Antony now appears to be third-choice down the right flank with Amad Diallo enjoying a decent start to the season and Alejandro Garnacho in contention too.

Ten Hag is clearly a fan of Antony; that’s why he brought the 24-year-old from Ajax in 2022.

Finding chances in the starting lineup is tricky though and Ten Hag can’t afford to potentially damage his side just to get Antony in.

Maybe the Europa League will hand Antony a golden chance to show off his quality once again, but this season could be make or break for him after a difficult time at Old Trafford.
