AEK Athens are considering the sale of Anthony Martial just a year after signing the former Manchester United forward.
Anthony Martial’s career is set to take another twist, after falling from grace just 12 months after joining AEK Athens.
The 29-year-old, who scored against Liverpool on his Manchester United debut, made just 23 appearances for AEK Athens last season, and it sounds like they’ve already had enough of the France international.
Perhaps the writing was on the wall a few weeks ago when Martial was left out of AEK Athens’ crucial Europa Conference League play-off against Anderlecht.
Martial was released by United in June 2024 after spending nine years at Old Trafford. It now looks like he could be shown the door in Athens after just one season with the Greek club.
The former AS Monaco star became injury-prone at United before being let go by Erik ten Hag, after making just 19 appearances during the 2023/24 season.

Anthony Martial in talks with Mexican outfit
Martial came to United with such high hopes; nobody thought he would be playing his football in Greece before reaching 30.
Despite leaving United to play in a league of a lower standard, Martial has continued to find himself in a challenging position, unsure of what the future holds.
It shows how far he has fallen as a footballer, with injuries proving to be a major hindrance on his career.
Martial has shown flashes of brilliance at AEK Athens, but injuries, inconsistent performances, and disciplinary issues mean the Greek club’s patience is wearing thin.
However, the transfer window in most countries is closed, so AEK Athens chose to offer Martial to six clubs in Mexico.
According to Footmercato, negotiations are underway between PUMAS and Martial’s entourage.
It is understood that negotiations are complicated as Martial wants to keep his €2.5 million net annual salary.
The transfer window in Mexico shuts on September 12, with a separate report claiming he has an agreement with Monterrey.
Martial suffered under new AEK Athens manager
After scoring nine goals and registering two assists last term, helping AEK finish second in the Super League, Martial’s form dipped in the latter stages of the season.
The manager who brought Martial to AEK Athens, Matias Almeyda, was dismissed before being replaced by Marko Nikolic.
Nikolic’s arrival has been bad news for Martial, who has played just 31 minutes of football this term, and is now considered surplus to requirements.
